Why Proper Prep Is Everything
Most flooring failures — buckling, gaps, adhesive failure, hollow spots — trace back to skipped or rushed preparation. We do it right from the start.
Carpet & Old Flooring Removal
We safely remove and dispose of old carpet, vinyl, laminate, and tile. Includes tack strip removal, adhesive scraping, and thorough cleaning to get you to a clean subfloor.
Subfloor Leveling & Patching
Uneven subfloors cause hollow spots, gaps, and premature wear. We use self-leveling compounds and patch products to achieve a flat, smooth surface — industry standard: within 3/16" over 10 feet.
Moisture Testing & Mitigation
Concrete slabs can emit moisture vapor that destroys adhesives and warps flooring. We test with calibrated meters and install moisture barriers when readings exceed manufacturer thresholds.
Baseboard & Trim Work
We carefully remove existing baseboards, label them for reinstallation, and can install new baseboards, quarter round, or shoe molding to complete the look.
Our Preparation Process
Inspection & Assessment
We inspect your existing flooring and subfloor, identify any issues (moisture, unevenness, damage), and determine the exact prep work needed before the first tool touches the floor.
Flooring Removal
Old flooring, adhesives, tack strips, and debris are removed methodically. We work clean — minimizing dust and protecting walls, trim, and adjacent surfaces.
Subfloor Preparation
Leveling, patching, sanding high spots, filling low spots, and moisture barrier installation as needed. We don't proceed until the subfloor meets spec.
Final Cleaning & Inspection
The subfloor is vacuumed and tack-clothed to remove every speck of dust. A final inspection confirms flatness, dryness, and readiness before any flooring material is laid.
