FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about vinyl plank flooring, installation, pricing, and what to expect.
How much does luxury vinyl plank installation cost?
LVP installation in Central Ohio typically ranges from $3.50–$7.00 per square foot installed, depending on the product chosen, subfloor condition, and any necessary preparation work. This includes material and labor. We provide free, detailed estimates with no obligation so you know exactly what to expect before we start.
How long does a typical flooring installation take?
Most single-room installations (200–400 sq ft) can be completed in 1–2 days. A full main floor (800–1,500 sq ft) typically takes 3–5 days. Larger whole-home projects may take 5–7 days. The timeline depends on room count, subfloor condition, and whether old flooring needs to be removed. We'll give you a clear timeline during the estimate.
Can you install vinyl plank over existing flooring?
In many cases, yes — LVP can be installed over existing vinyl, tile, or concrete as long as the surface is flat, clean, and dry. We cannot install over carpet or heavily damaged surfaces. We'll assess your specific subfloor during the estimate and recommend the best approach.
Is luxury vinyl plank really waterproof?
Yes. Quality LVP with a rigid core (SPC or WPC) is 100% waterproof. It will not warp, buckle, or swell when exposed to water. This makes it ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, and basements. We still recommend cleaning up standing water promptly for best long-term performance.
How long does vinyl plank flooring last?
Quality LVP flooring installed properly typically lasts 15–25 years in residential settings and 10–15 years in commercial spaces. The lifespan depends on the wear layer thickness, core type, installation quality, and maintenance. We only install products with a minimum 12 mil wear layer for residential and 20 mil for commercial applications.
What's the difference between LVP and laminate?
The biggest difference is water resistance. LVP is 100% waterproof — laminate is not. LVP has a flexible vinyl core while laminate has a rigid fiberboard core that swells with moisture. LVP is generally more durable and quieter, though laminate can be a good budget option for bedrooms and low-moisture living areas.
Do I need to move furniture before installation?
Yes — all furniture and personal items should be removed from the installation area before we arrive. We can discuss furniture moving services during the estimate if you need assistance. We also ask that pets be secured in a separate area during installation for their safety.
Do you offer a warranty on your work?
Absolutely. All of our installations include a workmanship warranty. If anything isn't right due to our installation, we'll make it right at no cost to you. The flooring products themselves carry manufacturer warranties that range from 15 years to lifetime depending on the product line you choose.
