What Affects Your Price
Homeowners usually ask about cost per square foot first. The honest answer is that the plank is often the smaller half of the number — labor and preparation move the total more than people expect. Here's what we look at when we quote a home.
Square footage
Material and labor both scale with area. Stairs and closets are priced separately — stairs take time per step, and every closet is a set of cuts and returns.
Subfloor condition
A flat, sound subfloor is straightforward. Uneven concrete or a bouncy wood subfloor needs leveling or repair first, and that's the most common surprise line on an estimate.
Old flooring removal
Carpet comes up relatively fast. Glued-down vinyl, tile, or multiple layers take longer and sometimes need grinding or scraping before anything new goes down.
Product choice
Thicker rigid-core SPC and premium WPC cost more than entry-level vinyl. Wear layer thickness and plank size are the main drivers within a given look.
Rooms and transitions
Open floor plans need fewer transitions. A house with many doorways and material changes needs more trim work and transition strips.
Furniture and appliances
We ask what's staying in place. Moving appliances and large furniture adds time; having rooms cleared speeds things up considerably.
If you'd like a rough sense before we visit, our guide to vinyl plank flooring cost in Ohio walks through typical Central Ohio ranges. A written in-home estimate is free and always more accurate than a phone number.
How Long It Takes
Disruption is the thing people actually want to know about. Most of it is concentrated in the demo and prep phase — once the new floor starts going down, rooms become usable again quickly.
Free estimate
We measure in person, check the subfloor, and give you a written quote with the scope spelled out.
Typical single room
Removal and prep usually in the morning, installation and trim the same day or the next.
Main floor (800–1,500 sq ft)
Most of the disruption sits in the first day or two of demo and prep.
Whole home
We phase room by room so you keep a usable living space throughout, rather than emptying the house.
Living in the house during the work
You don't need to move out. We phase larger projects room by room, keep a path to the kitchen and bathroom clear, and leave the site clean at the end of each day. Moving furniture to one side of a room is usually enough for us to work around it.
